  Paragraphing

SEE VIDEO BELOW

To write a good essay paragraph in English, there are 3 important steps that should be followed.

The first step is to tell the reader what each paragraph in your essay is going to be about. This is called the topic sentence, and is normally the first sentence of the paragraph. For example:

In many countries, people prefer to travel in their own vehicles rather than use public transport.

Beginning the paragraph without the topic sentence means that the reader may not understand what the paragraph is about.

Once you have decided on the topic sentence, the second step is to develop your topic. For example:

This is often because buses and trains can be expensive, but also because people find their own car to be more convenient.

The final step to writing a good paragraph for an essay is to provide some kind of evidence or example to support your point of view:

For example, they are not tied to a timetable and can travel to their destination at whatever time or pace they choose.

By following these simple steps, your writing is easy to follow.
